RULES AND BY-LAWS
FOR THE
WHANGAREI LITERARY INSTITUTE:
1. That to constitute a Member the entrance fee be 10s and the periodical subscription is 12s annually, payable quarterly in advance. That any member whose subscription shall be in arrears for twelve months shall forfeit his membership.
2. That any Member defacing or losing a book, or damaging it to such an extent as to render it unfit for circulation, will be required to forfeit the value of the same; or, if one of a set, to replace the whole series.
3. That the Committee be elected annually, by ballot, the Committee choosing their own officers.
4. That the Librarian be appointed by the Committee, and that the library be opened every Saturday from noon until one p.m. and from seven until nine p.m.
5. That a Public Meeting of the Members shall be held annually, on the last Thursday of February in each year, to receive the report of the Committee and to elect the office-bearers for the ensuing year.
6. That a Member wishing to propose an alteration of any rule shall give fourteen days clear notice thereof, in writing, to the Secretary.
7. That a Meeting of the Committee be held on the first Friday of each month, at seven p.m.
- That Non-Members of the Institute using the Reading Room pay a fee of 2d for each visit, or an annual subscription of 6s, payable quarterly, in advance, to entitle them to use the Reading Room as regards periodicals.
